From epic classics to easy online bits, here are our picks for the best post-break-up beach reads.

Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy
A classic tragedy that will leave you feeling like you got off easy.

The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen
Dive into the story of a deliciously dysfunctional family and their dysfunctional relationships.

One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
A beautiful magical-realism classic, Gabriel Garcia Marquez’ escapist history of a Latin American family reminds us--without depressing us--that none of this matters.

Zorro by Isabel Allende
What to look for in your next boyfriend.

What Was I Thinking? 58 Bad Boyfriend Stories by Barbara Davilman and Liz Dubelman
What to avoid in your next boyfriend. Fifty-eight women share their tales of romance woe.

Personal History by Katharine Graham
An empowering story of a woman who has been through it all.

The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion
Although it’s about the death of her husband, this Joan Didion memoir is, at its core, about the loss of a relationship. We don’t doubt it: sometimes the pain of a breakup is as deep as that of a death.

"Breakup Stories" by Jonathan Franzen
Short stories of bad behavior, committed by both men and women, from the New Yorker.

Glamour magazine: "You Won’t Believe These Breakup Stories!"
The sad thing is, you will.

Celebrity Breakups: The New York Daily News
Pure mindless schadenfreude. For the latest break-ups–with big photos and succinct descriptions.

Re: 10 Break-Up Beach Reads

What I learned from "Celebrity Breakups: The New York Daily News": Zack from Saved by the Bell is a stand-up guy. Also, I only got through like 10 of the 95 breakups, so I guess I don't have the attention span for The New York Daily News.

Good book recommendations, though. I want to read The Year of Magical Thinking.
